The Curious Cabinet is a project created by Alison Davis-Kurley, a printmaker, ceramicist and curator, born in Germany, brought up in the UK and now living and working in Central Portugal. The Curious Cabinet is inspired by the Renaissance collectors of artefacts and artworks from distant lands. these curios were shown in either a room or a display case: which, respectively, became known as a Wunderkammer or a Cabinet of Curiosities. Alison’s modern-day interpretation gives the participating artists an opportunity to exhibit small, wonderful pieces inspired by the animal kingdom, to be marvelled at in a hamster cage in four different venues across Portugal.

O Curious Cabinet é um projeto criado por Alison Davis-Kurley, gravadora, ceramista e curadora, nascida na Alemanha, criada no Reino Unido e que atualmente vive e trabalha na região centro de Portugal. O Curious Cabinet é inspirado nos colecionadores renascentistas de artefactos e obras de arte de terras distantes — essas curiosidades eram exibidas numa sala ou numa vitrine, que ficou conhecida como o Wunderkammer ou o Gabinete de Curiosidades. A interpretação moderna de Alison dá aos artistas participantes a oportunidade de expor pequenas e maravilhosas peças inspiradas no reino animal, para serem admiradas numa gaiola de hamster em quatro locais diferentes em Portugal.
