Often seen as a symbol of death and rebirth, the bat has always been present in the dark symbolism of 19th century tales, scientific illustrations and, of course, cabinets of curiosity. Gabriela brought all these elements together in a tribute to a nocturnal animal that represents the transition to new phases of life, with a unique connection to Victorian romanticism.

Gabriela Torres is an artist from Coimbra and has a PhD in Drawing from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, where she is a researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Fine Arts. Her area of specialization is figure drawing, and she has participated in conferences and published articles on this subject. She was the director of Atelier de Arte Realista do Porto. In 2024, after finishing her PhD, she founded Atelier Artístico Aeminium in Coimbra, where she teaches drawing and painting, with a special focus on model and portrait sessions.

Muitas vezes visto como um símbolo de morte e renascimento, o morcego esteve sempre presente no simbolismo sombrio dos contos do século 19, ilustrações científicas e, claro, gabinetes de curiosidade. Gabriela reuniu todos estes elementos numa homenagem a um animal noturno que representa a transição para novas fases da vida, com uma ligação única ao romantismo vitoriano. Gabriela Torres é artista plástica de Coimbra e doutorada em Desenho pela Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, onde é investigadora do Centro de Investigação e Estudos em Belas-Artes. A sua área de especialização é o desenho de figuras, tendo participado em conferências e publicado artigos sobre esta temática. Foi diretora do Atelier de Arte Realista do Porto. Em 2024, depois de terminar o doutoramento, fundou o Atelier Artístico Aeminium, em Coimbra, onde leciona desenho e pintura, com especial enfoque nas sessões de maquete e retrato.
